"Silver mines" open to visitors are situated in the pretty
little town of Melle

Oradour-sur-Glane was a pretty village that was completely destroyed
by the Germans in June 1944 and 642 innocent men, women and children
were massacred. The ruins of the village have been preserved exactly
as they were and it is a sad reminder of the futility of war. Well worth
a visit. Go via Confolens, an attractive town situated on the river
Vienne.

While visiting Confolens take time out for a bit of exercise and at
the same time enjoy the countryside by boarding the rail-bike. It is
a machine with four wheels and pedals designed for travel on a railway.
It can accommodate 5 passengers, 2 of whom pedal while the others relax
and enjoy the view! Sounds like fun!
